(July 10, 2024) – The Electrochemical Society (ECS) has named Dr. Rana Mohtadi, a senior principal scientist at the Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA), a Fellow in its Class of 2024. Mohtadi is the first female from an automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to receive this prestigious honor. This is the second consecutive year that a Toyota researcher has been in ECS’ annual Fellow class.

Toyota Invests in EV Charging Network IONNA to Enhance Charging Access for Customers

PLANO, Texas and RALEIGH DURHAM, North Carolina (July 10, 2024) – IONNA and Toyota Motor North America (Toyota) today announced that Toyota has joined seven other automakers as an investor in IONNA to support the buildout of its high-powered charging network for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) across North America. This allows Toyota and Lexus customers access to the public network of DC fast chargers IONNA will begin deploying later this year. IONNA plans to install at least 30,000 charging ports in North America by 2030, and stations will include both NACS and CCS connectors to support all BEV drivers.

Toyota and Pepco Team Up to Research Vehicle-to-Grid Technology in Maryland

PLANO, Texas and WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 17, 2024) – Toyota Motor North America (Toyota) and local energy utility Pepco are working together on vehicle-to-grid (V2G) research for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) using a Toyota bZ4X. This collaborative effort will explore bidirectional power flow technology that will allow BEV owners to not only charge their vehicle’s battery but also send power back to the local energy grid. V2G technology has the potential to support and provide benefits to customers through improved energy reliability and resilience, the integration of renewables, and the possibility of reduced electricity costs.
