Statement updated on July 2, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. CDT with the following:
- Addition of certain 2WD Tacoma with a combination of 16-inch brakes and 17-inch or 18-inch Toyota wheels and 4WD Tacoma with a combination of 16-inch brakes and 18-inch Toyota wheel models to recall
PLANO, Texas (Feb. 6, 2025) — Toyota is expanding a safety recall to include certain MY2024-2025 Tacoma 2- and 4-wheel drive vehicles equipped with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch or 18-inch Toyota wheels. Approximately 116,000 vehicles in the U.S. have been added to the recall, for a total involved population in the U.S. of approximately 222,000 vehicles.
Previously, the recall involved MY2024-2025 Tacoma 4-wheel drive vehicles equipped with 16-inch brakes and 17-inch Toyota wheels. Approximately 106,000 vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive were involved in the initial recall for the U.S.
The rear brake hoses in the subject vehicles can be damaged over time if there is enough build-up of mud/dirt inside the rear wheels from operating under certain off-road or muddy conditions. This can result in a brake fluid leak, increasing the risk of a crash.
For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace both rear brake hoses with improved ones at no charge to customers.
Toyota notified affected Tacoma 4-wheel drive customers in March 2025, and will notify owners of the involved expansion group of Tacoma models by late August.
Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.
