Johnson Controls, Inc., Otics USA, Inc. and Taiho Manufacturing of Tennessee, LLC. earn top honors
ERLANGER, Ky. (March 12, 2014) – Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA) awarded three suppliers with top honors based on their 2013 performance. Johnson Controls, Inc., OTICS USA, Inc. and TAIHO MANUFACTURING OF TENNESSEE, LLC each took home a “Superior” supplier award at TEMA’s annual business meeting, an annual gathering of companies that produce parts and materials for Toyota’s 12 North American models.
Johnson Controls, Inc., headquartered in Milwaukee, Wis., took home the prize for “Superior” performance in supplier diversity while OTICS USA, Inc., located in Morristown, Tenn. And TAIHO MANUFACTURING OF TENNESSEE, LLC, in Gordonsville, Tenn., each received superior awards for Quality performance.
Twenty-nine suppliers received “Excellent” awards for their performance in categories including supplier diversity, value improvement and quality performance. Launch performance awards were also given for the new models of Toyota’s RAV4, Tundra and Corolla.
“Toyota works closely with each supplier partner to build our vehicles to the high-quality, safety and reliability standards our customers expect,” said Robert Young, TEMA's purchasing vice president. “We were pleased to award those in our supply base who go above-and-beyond. This event emphasizes our mutual commitment with supplier partners to continuously improve to build “always better cars” in North America.”
During the meeting, TEMA addressed business objectives and goals in preparation for the fiscal year beginning April 1. TEMA’s President and CEO Simon Nagata attended, as well as presidents and other executives from Toyota’s 14 North American manufacturing facilities.
Held at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, the meeting brings together approximately 1,000 attendees from across North America.
Collectively, Toyota spends over $32 billion on parts, goods and services in North America. In the U.S. alone, there are nearly 60,000 supplier jobs dedicated to Toyota across more than 30 states.
