(TMS) has partnered with Ballard Power Systems to install a one-megawatt hydrogen fuel cell generator to offset peak electricity demand on the TMS headquarters campus. The fuel cell generator will be fed directly from a nearby Air Products hydrogen pipeline through an existing tap on the TMS property. The pipeline also supports the Toyota fleet of fuel cell hybrid vehicles by suppling hydrogen to the only pipeline-fed hydrogen filling station in the United States, located adjacent to the TMS campus.Pipeline hydrogen used on campus will be offset with the purchase of landfill generated renewable bio-gas. The system construction is scheduled for completion in August 2012 and is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by 10,000 tons with emission-free fuel cell technology. Photo: Jon Didier
