Earns Seventh Consecutive Truck Series Win
PLANO, Texas (February 24, 2020) – Kyle Busch earned his seventh straight NASCAR Truck Series win on Friday in Las Vegas while Doug Kalitta advanced to the Top Fuel Finals for the third straight event on Sunday in the NHRA Arizona Nationals.

Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) drivers Busch (15th), Denny Hamlin (17th) and Martin Truex Jr. (20th) earned top-20 finishes in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“Just unfortunate this early in the season,” said Truex after starting the race on the front row. “It’s nice to have a fast race car. Our Bass Pro Shops Toyota was really good. We were top two or three early in the first half and then (had) the pit stop issue. We got back in traffic. I had a roll on the 1 (Kurt Busch) car and he just moving up until I hit the fence on the front stretch. I thought we were going to be okay after that. Then just cut our right front tire down and pretty much ended our day. It is what it is, but luckily we got some good stage points the first two stages. We have a fast race car we can move forward with.”
A trio of JGR Supra drivers earned top-10 results in Sunday’s rain-postponed NASCAR Xfinity Series race. Harrison Burton finished fifth, Brandon Jones earned a sixth-place result and Riley Herbst placed ninth at the mile-and-a-half oval.
“It is my first time here in (Las Vegas) with the Xfinity car and learning that, so a top five is good and we can move on with some momentum,” said Burton. “To get out of Daytona in one piece and with a good points day and then to come here and get stage points in every stage and finish with a top five is good. I expect to win and I expect my team expects me to win, so I’m still working and you can never be satisfied in this sport. You have to be the best every weekend in this sport to be good and we’re working towards that.”
Busch won his third straight NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series (NGROTS) race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, leading 108 laps en route to his series-leading 57th victory. The Las Vegas native’s NGROTS seven-race winning streak dates back to Pocono in 2018.
“We certainly work really, really hard,” said Busch. “It wasn’t like we unloaded and knew we had a great piece and that we were going to go out there and dominate like that. We work for it, these guys do. All the preparation at the shop comes a long way. It’s just been really cool to get the equipment going that we have now. Obviously the talent that we have now. Our groups of guys, the core of them have been together now for a long time.”
Truck Series regulars Austin Hill (third) and Stewart Friesen (ninth) also earned top-10 finishes for Toyota. Hill currently leads the Truck Series championship standings after two top-six finishes to start the 2020 season.
NHRA
Toyota Top Fuel driver Kalitta advanced to the final round before falling to Steve Torrence at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in suburban Phoenix on Sunday. With one victory and a runner-up showing in the season’s first two events, Kalitta extends his Top Fuel point lead to 59 points.
“That’s not how we hoped the day would end, but we had a great day and I am so proud of my Mac Tools Toyota team,” said Kalitta, who opened the season by winning the Winternationals in Pomona. “We ran our three best passes of the weekend on race day, including our quickest pass ever. One of our goals heading into every season is to come out strong and work towards setting ourselves up for the playoffs. To open the 2020 season off with seven straight round wins tells you a lot about this team and the great job they do, as well as the support the TRD guys provide.”
Fellow Toyota driver Antron Brown also advanced to the Top Fuel semifinals on Sunday.
ARCA
Six Camry drivers finished in the top 10 in the ARCA Menards Series West race at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Thursday. Jesse Love earned a runner-up finish to race winner, Sam Mayer, while Gracie Trotter finished fourth in her ARCA West debut.
