As Senior Vice President at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM), Erik Skaggs oversees manufacturing and administration functions as part of their Leadership Steering Committee.

MTM is located in Huntsville, Alabama, and is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and Mazda Corporation. The facility is the only North American manufacturer for both the Toyota Corolla Cross and Mazda CX-50. It employs over 4,500 team members and represents a $2.3 billion investment.

Skaggs joined Toyota in 1993 as a quality engineer at its manufacturing plant in Georgetown, Kentucky. During his tenure, he served in multiple roles of Quality Control/Engineering as well as Body Operations Pilot and Production. He was named general manager of Quality Production Control in 2015. In this role, Skaggs oversaw vehicle manufacturing quality for current and new model preparation. In December of 2020, Skaggs was named vice president of manufacturing at Toyota Mississippi; in 2022, he transitioned to vice president of administration.

Prior to joining MTM, Skaggs served as president at Toyota Mississippi where he was responsible for all manufacturing and administrative functions.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University.
