Toyota/Lexus Consumer Safety Advisory: Potential Floor Mat Interference with Accelerator Pedal

Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. takes public safety very seriously. It believes its vehicles to be among the safest on the road today. Recent events have prompted Toyota to take a closer look at the potential for an accelerator pedal to get stuck in the full open position due to an unsecured or incompatible driver's floor mat. A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.

2010 Prius Plug-in Hybrid Debuts at Frankfurt Motor Show

Based on the third-generation Prius, the PHV Concept expands Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, utilizing first generation lithium-ion battery technology and enabling electric operation at higher speeds and longer distances than conventional hybrids.

Toyota Reports August Sales

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported August vehicle sales of 225,088 vehicles, up 10.5 percent over year-ago levels on a daily selling rate basis. Toyota Division passenger cars recorded an all-time, best-ever month with sales of 142,529 units, up 32.4 percent over the same period last year as the CARS program generated significant incremental sales for TMS and the industry.
