Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, (MTM)
In this role, David is responsible for overseeing manufacturing and administration functions at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM).
MTM is located in Huntsville, Alabama, and is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and Mazda Corporation. This facility is the only North American manufacturer for both the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Mazda CX-50.
Before joining MTM, Fernandes served as president of Toyota Mississippi. He has also served as senior vice president of Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) in Prospecton, South Africa and as the plant president of Toyota Alabama.
Fernandes has 25 years’ experience with Toyota. He joined Toyota in 1998 as a group leader at the manufacturing plant in West Virginia. During his tenure, Fernandes has severed in multiple leadership roles, working at four different manufacturing plants and a global assignment in South Africa.
Prior to working at Toyota, Fernandes served as the general manager at Rolls-Royce Aircraft Engine Corporation.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, and a Master of Science in Business Administration from Purdue University in Indiana. Fernandes serves on the executive board of the CREATE Foundation, Mississippi Economic Council and Health Care Foundation of Northeast Mississippi.
He and his wife Hillary, reside in Huntsville, Alabama and enjoy traveling.
