David Fernandes serves as group vice president of Region 1 for Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) and president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (Toyota Kentucky). He oversees a $12+ billion operation, employing nearly 10,000 people, and can produce up to 550,000 vehicles and 750,000 engines annually. Toyota Kentucky is Toyota’s largest manufacturing facility globally, producing the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, plus, four-cylinder and V6 engines, in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Before joining Toyota Kentucky, Fernandes held several key leadership roles across Toyota’s global manufacturing operations. Most recently, he served as group vice president for Region 6, TMMA, and senior vice president of Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, the joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and Mazda Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama. Previously, he was president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi, senior vice president of Toyota South Africa Motors in Prospecton, South Africa, and president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama.
Fernandes has more than 27 years of experience with Toyota. He joined Toyota in 1998 as a group leader at Toyota West Virginia. Prior to working at Toyota, Fernandes served as the general manager at Rolls-Royce Aircraft Engine Corporation.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, and a Master of Science in Business Administration from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University.
