Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi, Inc.
David Fernandes was named president at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi (TMMMS) in December 2020. Fernandes is responsible for all manufacturing and administration functions of Toyota’s Blue Springs plant that produces the Corolla, Toyota’s highest volume selling vehicle in the world.
Before becoming president at Toyota Mississippi, Fernandes was president at Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) in Prospecton, South Africa, where the Toyota Corolla has been produced since 1978.
Fernandes began his 23-year career with Toyota in 1998 at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia (TMMWV) as a group leader, working his way up to assistant general manager with responsibility for the North American transmission business. In 2008, Fernandes was assigned to the Toyota Motor North American Production Engineering group and became a general manager at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) in 2012.
Prior to his career with Toyota, Fernandes was general manager at Rolls-Royce Aircraft Engine Corporation.
Fernandes graduated from Purdue University in Indiana with a BSB in Business Administration and a BSB in Human Resource Management. He currently serves on the executive board of the CREATE Foundation, Mississippi Economic Council and Health Care Foundation of Northeast Mississippi.
He and his wife Hillary, reside in Tupelo, Mississippi and enjoy traveling.
