PLANO, Texas (Oct. 7, 2026) — Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid vehicles. Approximately 31,000 vehicles are involved in this recall in the U.S.

A fault can occur in an electronic control unit (ECU) for the plug-in hybrid system in the subject vehicles and can cause the system to shut down while driving. This can lead to a loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds and increase the risk of a crash.

All known owners of the subject vehicles will be notified to return their vehicle to a Toyota dealer. Toyota dealers will update the software of the affected ECU, at no cost.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by early December 2026.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.

For any additional questions, Toyota customer support is also available by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Center (1-800-331-4331).
