Team USA, Team Toyota’s Jessica Long Wins 27th Paralympic Medal at Tokyo 2020

TOKYO (September 1, 2021) – At 29 years old, Team Toyota athlete Jessica Long won her 27th Paralympic medal, earning a silver medal in the women’s 100m breaststroke SB7 at the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 on Wednesday, September 1.

Long, one of the most decorated Paralympians in the United States, finished second in the 100m breaststroke SB7 final with a time of 1:34.82 to earn her fourth medal at Tokyo 2020. So far, the five-time Paralympian has won a medal in each individual event she has competed in, collecting one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze medal in this year’s Paralympic Games. Long now has 27 career medals, including eight silver medals, since competing in her first Paralympic Games at the age of 12.

“It’s not how you start; it’s how you finish,” said Long. “I knew I still had a shot until my hand gets on that wall. I truly just want to be the best that I can be, and if I’m going to be a part of the Paralympic Movement, I am going to try my absolute best, and whatever happens, I’ll always be trying my best.”
