Toyota Technical Center's Robert Smith is a 2011 SAE Ralph H. Isbrandt Automotive Safety Engineering Award winner. Along with co-authors Shigeki Hayashi, Yuichi Kitagawa and Tsuyoshi Yasuki of Toyota Motor Corporation, Smith authored a technical paper called "A Study of Driver Injury Mechanism in High Speed Lateral Impacts of Stock Car Auto Racing Using a Human Body FEModel,” which was presented at the 2011 SAE World Congress.
