About David Boudia

David Boudia decided at just seven years old that he would be a U.S. Olympian while watching the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Atlanta 1996. Since then, Boudia has gone on to accomplish his ultimate goal – winning an Olympic gold medal – at London 2012.

A year after competing in London, Boudia graduated from Purdue University with a degree in communications and in 2015, he became the first American man since Greg Louganis (1978-1986) to medal on the 10m platform at three consecutive World Championships.

In 2017, Boudia took time off from diving to sell real estate. Once he returned in 2018, he suffered a concussion on a training dive from the 10m platform in February, sparking his switch to 3m springboard.

Boudia, whose favorite dive is 109C, enjoys anything competitive (football, basketball, soccer, etc.) reading, video games and hanging out with friends. In 2016, he also wrote and released his first book, “Greater than Gold: From Olympic Heartbreak to Ultimate Redemption.” Boudia was featured in the Toyota/Olympic Channel collaboration ‘What Moves Me’, an original content series where he talks about his emotional journey in hopes of promoting mental health awareness.

He lives with his wife, Sonnie, their two daughters, Dakoda and Mila, and son, Knox.
