Toyota Motor Corporation Announces Vehicle Production Adjustments Due to Floods in Thailand

NOVEMBER 3, 2011 – Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) sends its sincerest condolences to all those affected by the recent catastrophic flooding in Thailand.

As of this time, the effect of the floods in Thailand on Toyota and Lexus production within and outside Japan is as follows.

Production in Japan

As previously announced, TMC has adjusted production hours at its vehicle production plants in Japan for the week October 24 through November 5. This has now been extended, and production from November 7 through November 12 will be adjusted based on an ongoing assessment of the parts supply situation at each individual production line.

Production outside Japan

TMC’s sales and production company in Thailand, Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. (TMT) has extended the production halt at its Samrong, Gateway and Ban Pho plants-in place since October 10-through November 12. The floods still have had no physical impact on the plants.

Vehicle production plants in South Africa, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan and Malaysia will adjust production for the week starting November 7.

North American Production

Earlier this week, Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing North America announced that all North American vehicle assembly plants would also suspend overtime and Saturday production through November 12. U.S. dealers continue to have a good supply of cars and trucks as inventories have improved in recent months.

A decision on production from November 14 onward will be made based on an assessment of the situation as it develops.
