Jacqueline Thomas is group vice president, chief compliance and ethics officer for Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). Thomas is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership over multiple departments, including internal audit, compliance and ethics, regulatory compliance, customs/trade compliance and privacy. Her division ensures compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies and procedures upholding Toyota’s commitment to integrity and principled performance.
Thomas is a member of the North American Management Council, which sets strategy and mid- to long-term business plans. She serves as an advisor to the TMNA Audit Committee, Compliance Advisory Council, and the Risk Committee and as a roundtable member of the Global Office of the Deputy Chief Risk Officer. She is the highest-ranking Latina and reports directly to the CEO.
Thomas is recognized as a thought leader on organizational and career development transformation. She has a passion for developing others and aspires to give the underserved a voice. This passion has led to serving as an active co-executive sponsor for TODOS (Toyota Organization for the Development of LatinOS) North American Advisory Council (NAAC) and executive member of ten other Toyota Business Partnering Groups, which are team member-led groups that foster a diverse, inclusive workplace aligned with the Toyota mission, values, goals and objectives.
Thomas was featured in the Hispanic Executive magazine in 2018 and nominated for 100 Leading Women in North American Auto Industry in 2019 and 2020.
Thomas is active in a number of church and community programs and is currently a member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association, the Corporate Executive Board, the Compliance & Ethics Leadership Council, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics. She previously served on the boards of the National Environmental Education Foundation and the Toyota Foundation where she chaired their respective Audit Committees.
Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and is a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP).
