Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Tundra and Sequoia vehicles

PLANO, Texas (Nov. 23, 2021) – Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain 2021 model year Tundra and 2021-2022 model year Sequoia vehicles in the U.S. Approximately 22,000 vehicles are involved in this recall.

The subject vehicles have a power steering system that makes it easier to turn the steering wheel, especially at lower speeds. Due to a manufacturing error, a component of this system can leak power steering fluid. If a sufficient amount leaks, power steering assist can be suddenly lost. While manual steering remains functional, the loss of power steering assist may increase the steering effort needed and can increase the risk of a crash.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will inspect the power steering gear assembly and if necessary, replace it with a new one at no cost to customers.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by late January 2022.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter.  To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall, visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.
