Vipin Gupta is group vice president & chief innovation and digital officer of Toyota Financial Services (TFS). In this role, Gupta oversees the company’s enterprise functions of strategic planning, innovation, business transformation, operational excellence, digital academy, information technology, and cybersecurity. He also heads the new TFS business functions of Payments and KINTO mobility. Through these broad responsibilities, Gupta leads the organization’s development of future businesses and cutting-edge solutions to meet the evolving needs of customers, dealers, and the TFS workforce.
Since joining Toyota in 2018, Gupta has been instrumental in the rapid digital transformation of TFS into a mobility-finance-as-a-service business for many mobility brands. He also launched the TFS digital academy with a mission to build a digital-savvy workforce.
Before joining Toyota, Gupta served as CIO for KeyBank’s Retail and Private Banking business, leading customer-focused digital transformation. Before KeyBank, he served as Business Information Officer at PNC/National City Bank and as a partner at Capgemini/Ernst & Young. He focused on e-business transformation at global financial services institutions. In the early years of his career, Gupta served in NIIT’s international consulting business, where he honed the craft of software engineering.
Gupta is a recipient of the prestigious 2021 MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award. CIO Magazine has also recognized him as a ‘CIO 100’ Honoree and a ‘Standout Winner in Innovation.’ The Chief Learning Officer group recently recognized the TFS digital academy with a ‘2021 Learning in Practice’ award.
Gupta currently serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Dallas. He also serves on the Global CIO Executive Council advisory board. He holds a Master of Computer Applications degree in computer science and business management from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, India.
