Cheryl Hughes

As the Chief Human Resources Officer for Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), Cheryl Hughes leads a team of HR professionals responsible for championing the company’s culture, and providing tools and resources that create an engaging team member experience. Her role includes oversight of talent acquisition, talent development, team member relations, strategy & analytics, and total rewards for the company’s more than 40,000 team members.

Previously, Hughes was one of five members of the Planning Management Office (PMO) that was responsible for the recent consolidation of Toyota’s U.S. affiliate operations. In that role, she helped oversee the reorganizational efforts of the company’s key business areas, as well as established the One Toyota culture. Hughes now serves as Executive Advisor for the PMO.

Prior to her Chief Human Resources Officer and PMO roles, Hughes managed the design, implementation and administration of compensation and benefits programs for Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), ensuring those programs supported and aligned with the organization’s business strategy.  She also was responsible for benefits programs at Toyota Financial Services (TFS), Toyota Racing Development, and Calty Design Research, as well as TMS and TFS executive compensation and benefits programs. She managed the implementation and utilization of secure, efficient HR information systems to optimize the output, functionality and efficiency of the HR organization, and was responsible for the development and implementation of workforce management tools and strategic planning for workforce issues.

Hughes is a member of the board of directors for the North Texas Food Bank and holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota.
