Ron Chu is group vice president and chief accounting officer for Toyota Financial Services (TFS). He is responsible for all corporate tax and accounting functions of TFS and Toyota Motor Credit Corporation. Ron is also responsible for certifying quarterly and annual SEC filings. He reports to Mike Groff, TFS president and chief executive officer.
Chu joined TMCC in March 2002 as national manager of tax, was promoted to corporate manager of tax in 2007, and vice president and chief accounting officer in 2010. As head of the accounting and tax department, he has been instrumental in developing and leading many strategic corporate initiatives to provide TFS and Toyota high efficiency and accuracy.
Prior to joining TMCC, Chu served as director of tax at Asia Global Crossing. Before that, he was senior manager at KPMG’s Los Angeles office.
Chu is a certified public accountant licensed in California, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a member of the Tax Executive Institute.
Chu was also an executive sponsor of TAASiA, a Toyota Business Partnering Group dedicated to the diverse Asian-American cultures and heritages within Toyota and the community.
Chu received his Bachelor of Arts from East China Normal University, Shanghai, China, and a post baccalaureate certificate in accounting from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. He received his master’s degree in taxation from Portland State University, and a doctorate from the University of Bonn in Germany.
