Zack Hicks is chief information officer of Toyota operations in North America and group vice president for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. He is responsible for the strategy, development and operations of all systems and technology that support Toyota’s North American business goals. Hicks is also a member of the North American Management Committee and chairs the Executive Steering Committee.
Hicks is focused on aligning the efforts of business operations, strategic planning, and technology to drive business innovation and efficiency. Hicks championed a global telematics ecosystem enabling new customer and in-vehicle capabilities. He’s also driving innovation, allowing Toyota to have closer connection with its customers, dealers, and business partners. Hicks deployed mobile devices and mobile reporting capabilities providing the workforce with real-time analytics. Hicks facilitated the implementation of cloud-based collaboration tools for Toyota employees in North America, accelerating communication across company lines. He also enabled the development of a Social Media Analytics platform that allows Toyota to capture the voice of the customer and intimately connect with them.
Hicks joined Toyota in 1996, and he has held several management positions within the company including telematics, eBusiness, dealer systems, and information systems where he led the establishment of a demand management function, the development of next-generation dealership technology and designed a CIO Magazine
award-winning information systems strategy framework to align business and IT strategies. Hicks also served as vice president of Administrative Services.
Prior to joining Toyota, Hicks spent 10 years with United Airlines working on retail automation and online reservation systems. Hicks earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Pepperdine University, and his MBA from the University of California, Irvine.
He is an active member of the CIO Strategy Exchange, Corporate Executive Board for Chief Information Officers, UCLA IS Associate Program, CIO Leadership Network, and the Research Board. He is also a board member of the March of Dimes Foundation.
