Katherine Adkins is Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Toyota Financial Services (TFS).
Adkins oversees the Legal Department, Compliance Department and Internal Audit Department, providing direction, vision, and strategy to support TFS business objectives and to ensure integrity of enterprise-wide legal, compliance and audit risk analysis. Adkins also leads the development of strategies to ensure legal, compliance and audit tools and technology support changing business demands. Adkins reports to Mike Groff, President and CEO.
Adkins joined TFS in 2000 as Managing Counsel and in 2006 she was promoted to Corporate Manager and Assistant General Counsel responsible for managing the Legal Department’s Transactions and Compliance Groups. During the last several years in the Legal Department, Adkins successfully managed legal negotiations and documentation for a wide range of contracts, oversaw consumer finance compliance for retail contracts, leases, and insurance products and also managed all legal aspects of marketing, real estate, and commercial lending. Additionally, Adkins has led several projects that addressed outside counsel management, legal cost reduction, legal compliance, liability prevention, and technology and process improvement.
On the Compliance front, Adkins has led the development of a comprehensive compliance program on behalf of the company.
Adkins has a passion for innovation and serves as the executive sponsor of the company’s creativity and innovation efforts. TFS has created workshops and training sessions where associates develop innovation skills and improve their creativity, with the goal of creating value to the company.
Adkins earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School and her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Nebraska.
