Abbas Saadat is the Regional Product Safety Executive (RPSE) for Toyota North America and vice president, Vehicle Safety & Compliance Liaison Office (VSCLO) for Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA)
 
As the RPSE for Toyota in North America, Saadat is a principal decision maker with oversight responsibility for field actions relating to safety recalls in the United States. 

As vice president of VSCLO, Saadat has senior level responsibility for Toyota’s interaction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  The VSCLO is the main conduit to NHTSA in regards to communication of field actions, filling recalls, and communications of Early Warning Reports.  The function is responsible for providing information in connection with NHTSA’s investigations and participating in the agency’s regulatory and compliance testing.
 
Saadat joined Toyota Technical Center (TTC) in 1991 as an engineer in the Parts Engineering Department responsible for body and chassis strength performance development.  He has served in numerous management positions and was named vice president of Vehicle Performance Development Division in 2006. 
 
His previous responsibilities included performance development of the vehicles designed and manufactured in North America in the areas of safety, body/chassis, noise/vibration, vehicle dynamics, brakes, body functional, seats, HVAC and human factors. Additionally, Saadat was responsible for R&D quality promotion activities.
 
Saadat earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University and has been a member of SAE since 1989.
