Abbas Saadat is vice president, vehicle safety and compliance liaison office (VSCLO) and North American regional product safety executive (RPSE) for TEMA, Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America, Inc.
In his VSCLO role, Saadat functions as the main conduit to NHTSA in regards to communication of field actions, filling recalls, and communications of Early Warning Reports (EWR). His VSCLO function is also responsible for providing information in connection with NHTSA’s investigations and participating in the agencies’ regulatory/compliance testing.
In his RPSE role, Saadat is one of the principal decision makers in charge of making field action proposals in the U.S.
Saadat joined Toyota Technical Center (TTC) in 1991 as an engineer in the Parts Engineering Department responsible for body and chassis strength performance development. He has served in numerous management positions, and was named Vice President of Vehicle Performance Development Division in 2006.
His previous responsibilities included performance development of the vehicles designed and manufactured in North America in the area of safety, body/chassis, noise/vibration, vehicle dynamics, brakes, body functional, seats, HVAC, human factors, as well as R&D quality promotion activities.
Saadat earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University and has been a member of SAE since 1989.
