Cheryl Hughes is group vice president, corporate resources, and a member of the five-member Planning Management Office (PMO) responsible for helping Toyota consolidate its affiliate operations to unify as One Toyota in the organization’s new headquarters in Plano, Texas. In this role, Hughes is responsible for managing the reorganization of the new organization’s key functional areas, helping to establish the new One Toyota culture and overseeing the creation of the synthesized One Toyota Total Rewards package. In addition to her PMO and HR role, Hughes is also Corporate Secretary for TMNA.

Prior to assuming her responsibilities with the PMO, Hughes managed the design, implementation and administration of TMS’ compensation and benefits programs to ensure those programs supported and aligned with the organization’s business strategy. She also was responsible for Toyota Financial Services (TFS), Toyota Motor North America (TMA), Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and Calty Design Research benefits programs, as well as TMS and TFS executive compensation and benefits programs.

Hughes also managed the implementation and utilization of secure, efficient human resource information systems to optimize the output, functionality and efficiency of the human resources organization, and was responsible for the development and implementation of workforce management tools and strategic planning for workforce issues.

Prior to joining TMS in August 2000, Hughes served as director of compensation and benefits at Providence Health Systems. She also held the positions of director of compensation at Apria Healthcare, and national compensation and benefits manager for Hyundai Motor America.

Hughes holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minn.
