Toyota Taps Canine Connection: New Venza Launch Kicks Off Offering of Pet Products

November 3, 2008 - Torrance, CA - Toyota's new Venza seems to be barking up the right tree with a line of canine-friendly offerings through Toyota Associated Pet Products.

Anticipating that many buyers of this versatile new car may be pet owners, Toyota has put together a line-up of aftermarket pet products offered through dealers, sure to generate a howl of approval from even the most finicky of canines.

"Venza is a vehicle designed to meet the needs of people with a fun and on-the-go lifestyle, especially active boomers," says Bob Zeinstra, Toyota Motor Sales' national product marketing manager for Venza. "Many of these buyers look to their pets to fill the gap left by their kids. We wanted to make sure the Venza can accommodate this important family member and traveling companion."

A recent survey conducted by the American Pet Products Manufacturing Association revealed that half of all dog owners consider their pet's comfort when buying a car. And with unrestrained pets causing more than 30,000 accidents annually, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA), more states are passing and considering legislation requiring pets to be secured for their own safety and to reduce driver distractions.

Dogs and even cats can look forward to more than a dozen Venza-friendly creature comforts, the most ever available through Toyota dealers. Venza's large cargo capacity and rear hatch allow for easy entrance and loading of pets. Available products include: a rear hatch pet ramp for easy loading and unloading, a leash tether for securing pets in the vehicle, a pet booster seat with harness, a first/second row or cargo area pet barrier, pet seatbelt buckles and rear seat zip line-style harnesses. Waterproof and removable hammock-style seat covers are also available to fit Venza's bench and bucket seats.

Pricing for the pet products will be available at the end of 2008 in conjunction with the Venza launch. These new pet products may be one of Toyota's best fits yet for owner and pet alike, but canine travelers will be the ultimate judges.
